A world where North and South can work together to strengthen democracy, the rule of law and the promotion of hunam rights.
Our Mission
Using our own unique InSight, we can provide the younger generation of leaders across the Global South with the tools they need to strengthen their democracy, rule of law and promotion of human rights.
Around the world, democracy is in decline. Today, authoritarian tendencies are on the rise, leading to decreasing numbers of people living in pluralistic societies where democracy can thrive.
Populism, nationalism and extremism have gained terrain over the fundamental values of respect for different opinions, views and ideas. Polarization has poisoned public debate, undermining the democratic process. Elected representatives, human rights defenders and journalists, to name but a few, are constantly under attack, harassed, persecuted and ultimately killed.
Yet there is hope
Political scientists have long argued that education is a determining factor in the emergence and sustainability of democracy, as only through education can political participation, at both the individual and collective level, be fostered and promoted.
Dream it.
Today’s younger generation is more technologically advanced and more engaged with national and international issues, and is able to make a difference. Years of experience have shown that real change can only be brought about when the younger generation is actively involved in a change-process. They are the catalysts for the future. Meaningful and sustainable democratic change requires the active participation of youth.
Nurture it.
In some countries, a failure to provide targeted diplomacy and governance training to those taking the helm is leading to an inability to pave the way towards the democratic transition so desperately needed.
In response to these developments, Global South InSight brings a unique perspective. Our work is to actively support the next generation of young civil society leaders to develop their own strategies to promote democracy, the rule of law and the protection of human rights.

One of our distinguishing characteristics as an organization is that we are young and our expertise comes not only from prestigious universities of the Global North, but from on-the-ground experience the Global South itself. This brings a unique perspective to the crafting of a successful strategy as the InSight we can provide into the issues affecting these countries comes from direct experience. We provide tailor-made actions to strengthen the young generation on the ground to more effectively promote democracy, and, ultimately, respectful and tolerant societies. This is different from other approaches because it considers, first, their own perspective and then builds a tailor-made strategy with them that can bring about tangible results.
